The wearable dress designs
Here are some of the designs for the wearable dress before the Christmas based on Pleating, Junky styling, Draping and Curved pattern. My final design for the wearable dress is based on pleating and draping using Calico material because I got inspired by the pleating and the draping techniques.
Collection's Research
Before starting to designs for the final wearable dress, I decided to show some of my inspirational designers collections. I love the cuts, the designs, the shapes, the colours. Designers collection would be from museums, catwalk and from their websites.
Alexander McQueen
Michael Sherard
Osman
Jenny Packhom
Gareth Pugh
Erdem
Carlos Jimenez
Further Development
I decided to do one more design using the newspaper to see what would the result. Three layers of frilled really looked beautiful. I am happy to see the good result out of newspaper. I believe that it is good technique to use newspaper first to see how the design would look like.
Junky Styling
Annika Sanders and Kerry Seager [Research]
Annika and Kerry made clothes for themselves to wear out to clubs in their early 90,s during their late teens. they got inspired by the prevalence of recycling in places such as San Francisco and Tokyo and the resourcefulness of the people Vietnam and Thailand. Junky styling was the perfect tag to attach to their unique style of clothing.
Further Development
Here are my example of making junky styling and I have used tie, shirt and inner piece of the coat.I have enjoyed making the garment and I have gained new skills while doing it. This garment was the before the final garment. It was really good idea for me to sketch some designs before going onto the materials straight on, it kind of gives an idea and help to develop the design.
